Mayor or Lord Mayor?… That is the Question.

Anne Scicluna

With the prospect of major government reorganisation edging ever closer in our region, the idea of a ‘mayor’ has never been more topical. But there are differences between an elected mayor, an honourary mayor and the (relatively rare) position of Lord Mayor.

The speaker for talk was originally billed as Jason Fazakarley, former Lord Mayor of Portsmouth. Jason is currently unable to confirm his availability for the evening of September 24th but we are very lucky to have three-times Mayor of Chichester, Anne Scicluna to deliver the talk instead. A talk on this subject was originally due to be given by former Lord Mayor of Portsmouth Jason Fazakarley. However, due to new uncertainty over his availability on the 24th of September, the talk will now be delivered by three-times former Mayor of Chichester, Anne Scicluna.

As well as discussing new and old meanings in the roles of Mayor and Lord Mayor, we hope she will also give some details of her recently updated book, A History of Chichester in 600 Street Names.

Chichester Area Talking News for the blind

Every fortnight, Chichester Area Talking News (CaTN) produces an hour of local news and features on memory sticks for blind and partially sighted people in the Chichester District. CaTN also produces a quarterly magazine programme called INSIGHT. These “talking newspapers” fill an information gap, and play an important role in helping to restore the independence of visually impaired people as well as creating the opportunity for them to continue to take an active interest in the community.
